Beerhouse Everson’s Beer Pairing

You know when you really aren’t looking forward to something, like really, really not looking forward to it at all – and then it’s awesome and you wish you’d been excited in the first place? Well, that happened to me in a big way. I was expected a relatively average event, where we sipped beer and ate pub food that didn’t really go together. BUT GUYS I WAS SO WRONG.

Last month I attended the Beerhouse and Devil’s Peak food and wine pairing. For a measly R150 you get 6 beers each paired with, not pub grub, but beautifully presented and conceptualised dishes. They had thought through each course in relation to the beer – so that they really brought out each other’s flavours.

Potted smoked salmon, horseraddish, capers and toasted rye; tamarind shrimp with orzo mac ‘n’ cheese; and truffled foie gras benedict.

And the best news? It’s not a one time event. YAY! THE CROWDS GO WILD! The Beerhouse Everson’s Beer Pairing is taking place on Monday. Yeah, it’s short notice but #yolo. And guys, you need to go book now. If the last one was anything to go on, it’s going to be a phenomenal event and let’s be honest, who doesn’t like Everson’s Cider?
