Cuvee launches inspiring new menu!

When it comes to winelands fine dining, Simonsig’s Cuvée restaurant has come to set the bar with its inventive and sumptuous seasonal menus. The recently launched autumn menu is no exception, and the line-up of exciting and original culinary combinations undoubtedly warrants a visit to this historic Stellenbosch wine estate to soak up the delicious dining experience, and last bit of summer sun.

Chef Lucas Carstens is the creative mastermind behind the restaurant’s inspiring new menu, which includes springbok loin with whiskeyed parsnip puree, beef sirloin with smoked carrot and parmesan polenta, as well as a crispy duck breast with confit leg roulade, aubergine and gem squash puree.

At Cuvée we are inspired by the bounty of nature surrounding us. You only have to look as far as the past harvest and the wonderful fruit it yielded to realise how fertile our local soils are, and as we approach autumn, many exciting fresh products are coming into season which make for a fantastic new menu.

According to Carstens sourcing only the freshest seasonal ingredients and supporting local artisanal producers and sustainable farming are paramount considerations for Cuvée. “We have sourced some amazing produce for the new menu, and with ingredients such as fresh Paternoster cob, Karoo venison and the most stunning seasonal vegetables, there is no lack of inspiration in the Cuvée kitchen to create beautiful and memorable dishes.”

The enticing dessert menu invites visitors to linger and enjoy the majestic views of the Simonsberg Mountains and the surrounding landscape. Some of the decadent sweet delights that will make your taste buds tingle include crème caramel with salted caramel popcorn and tonka bean marshmallow, a classic opera torte with espresso and hazelnut crumble, as well as a buttermilk and vanilla mousse with black sesame ice cream.

For diners seeking a lighter meal option there are also several mouth-watering starters as well as a variety of local cheeses and handmade preserves. As is the custom at Cuvée, all the dishes are accompanied by an expert wine recommendation from the estate’s extensive award-winning range.

Cuvée Restaurant is open from Tuesday to Sunday between 12:00 – 15:00 Friday evenings from 19:00 – 22:00. Private evening functions and parties can be reserved in Simonsig’s stylish Van Niekerk Room.
