My T Iced launches in South Africa

My T Iced is the latest addition to fridges and beverage shelves across South Africa. A premium, artisanal, iced tea. Hot brewed and rich in minerals and antioxidants. So what sets My T Iced apart from other iced teas on the market? And what message is being sent out to that market with this healthier alternative?

My T Chai, the company behind My T Iced, has been drawing out goodness in mugs across the county with their signature spiced teas for over 10 years. Believing that the iced teas currently available do not truly represent what an ice tea beverage could and should be, My T Chai made the decision to seize that gap on their own terms. Whilst other ice teas add either artificial flavouring and tea extract or a smaller percentage of brewed tea, and or make use of a fruit juice base. My T Iced is entirely hot brewed, and expertly cooled to provide drinkers with all the healthy antioxidants found in a cup of Rooibos tea.

The well documented benefits of Rooibos and Honeybush tea include the lowering of cholesterol and have even been touted as being anti-cancer, which in an age where most pleasures are on the naughty list, is reason enough to rejoice.

Brewing My T Iced in small batches ensures the artisanal aspect to the refreshing beverage is maintained, fundamental in the message behind the brand. My T Iced contains Aspalathin, which is the main antioxidant behind the worldwide success of Rooibos tea. Adding only natural ingredients including just a little cane sugar, in the brewing process, My T Iced manages to attain one of the lowest sugar content levels of any iced tea on the market. It’s caffeine free and sans additives and preservatives.

We understand our product is different and unique in the South African market. It’s what we strive to do, and that’s the way we like it” – Michael Chaimowitz, originator of My T Iced.

In keeping with the artisanal approach, My T Iced is heavily focused on launching their brand via social media, and is currently running Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts.

We are looking to create a societea (tea humour) of healthy minded tea enthusiasts through our social media. In the current marketing climate, we feel social media should be fun, engaging, family friendly and focus on your organic followers rather than playing the numbers games. We aren’t a soft drink empire, we brew tea and enjoy getting to know our customers.

With their #penguinsarethenewcats campaign currently running on Facebook and Instagram, My T Iced is finding traction with their followers. “We understand there are many choices in your day to day lives when it comes to choosing a drink. We want to provide people with the health benefits of drinking a real Iced Tea and let them decide from there.”

Penguin

We were going to use cats in our marketing campaign as the internet told us everyone loves cats. But our marketing manager is violently allergic, so we went with penguins instead. We are an understanding bunch.

My T Iced proudly sponsor their own penguin via SANCCOB and encourage all of their fans to follow suit. “FYI, you can’t take the penguins home, we asked. But you can buy a very cute fluffy toy which has now become our official office mascot, we call him Jack”

Launching with 3 flavours – Apple Cinnamon, Lemongrass and Bitter Orange, there are further flavours being perfected with Vanilla Chai and Ginger on the way. My T Iced store listings can be found on their website at www.myticed.co.za. Follow them on social media for a good few laughs as we go into the festive season. And remember, Rooibos is not a flavour …..
