Picnics are back at Grub & Vine Norval!

If your idea of a perfect weekend involves sunshine, wine, and a seriously good picnic spread, then Grub & Vine Norval has just answered your call.

Back by popular demand, their much-loved picnic experience in the Norval Foundation Sculpture Gardens is officially back — and it’s every bit as dreamy as you’d expect.

🍃 Art, Nature & Al Fresco Feasting

Available every Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 4pm, Grub & Vine’s picnics offer a delicious escape into the serene beauty of Norval’s sprawling sculpture garden. Think birdsong, dappled light, world-class art, and a picnic basket so good it deserves its own gallery space.

Choose between:

  • R400 per person – includes garden access

  • R500 per person – includes garden and museum access
Both options come with a beautifully packed tote bag (yes, you get to keep it!) and a picnic blanket to lounge in style.

🧺 What’s in the Basket?

Brace yourself — this is no basic picnic. Here’s a peek at what you’ll be unwrapping:

  • Charcuterie heaven: salami, prosciutto & bresaola

  • Cheese board essentials: blue cheese, brie, gruberg & crackers

  • Fresh bakes: brioche with artisanal butter

  • Savoury showstoppers: shallot, bacon & blue cheese tarte tatin + leek & potato Spanish omelette

  • Salad glow-up: red quinoa, beetroot & broccoli with pesto dressing and parmesan

  • Sweet finish: scones with cream and jam, plus rich, fudgy brownies

It’s indulgent. It’s seasonal. It’s practically a work of art.

🍾 Want to Level Up?

  • Add Bottomless Bubbles for R375pp and toast your way through the afternoon

  • Or explore tasting flights from Grub & Vine Norval’s wine cellar

  • Bottles are also available to take along — curated, of course, to complement the food

📅 Only 20 baskets available per day, so pre-booking is highly recommended (via Dineplan). Same-day bookings are possible while stocks last.

🚫 BYOB and BYOP are strictly off the table — they’ve got everything you need (and then some).

This isn’t just a picnic. It’s an experience. It’s the essence of summer served with a side of sculpture, and it’s proof that Cape Town weekends still have a few tricks up their sleeve.

So grab your sunnies, bring your appetite, and prepare for a lazy afternoon of luxury.
Grub & Vine Norval’s picnics are calling — and trust us, you want to answer.
