Maison Estate’s Chenin Blanc, Summer in a Glass

Much to the delight of many wine lovers, Maison Estate proudly announced the release of the 2016 Chenin Blanc at this year’s Uncorked Festival in Franschhoek. Maison is nestled just outside of Franschhoek, a premier wine destination of the world that has been affectionately deemed as the “Gourmet Capital” due to the incredible restaurants and wines available in the region.

Chenin Blanc packshot LR

Already a loved wine due to the success of previous vintages, the 2016 single vineyard Chenin Blanc promises to impress. The grapes come from a 1.1 hectare block of carefully nurtured Chenin Blanc vines, the same vineyards used to produce each vintage of Chenin Blanc since 2008 proving that consistency is key when it comes to producing a delicious Chenin Blanc.

The grapes are handpicked once perfectly ripe then de-stemmed and carefully pressed. The grape juice experiences a cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks and spends 3 months aging on fermentation lees to ensure maximum flavours and aromas are captured in the wine. This can be tasted from the very first sip.

Expect a crisp and refreshing hint of green citrus with a lingering aftertaste.

This wine is a light and clear reminder of a summer past.  The wine has flavours of white pear, grapefruit zest and summer cantaloupe with magnificent, delicate aromas. Due to its meticulously balanced acidity and inherently sweet flavor, this wine pairs well with a variety of dishes including seafood, salad and chicken dishes. – Antwan Bondesio, Maison’s winegrower.

The wine can be purchased directly from Maison Estate for R120 per bottle or R720 per case.  Unwind with those closest to you and a glass of Maison Estates 2016 Chenin Blanc.
