Why you should buy Boschendal Wine this winter

Known as one of the most iconic wine estates in the Cape, Boschendal consistently crafts excellent wine and unforgettable experiences.

With their team of young wine-makers, they are constantly innovating and adapting. The precision and care Boschendal puts into each part of their wine-making process has reaped rewards this year with success across the board.

With the estate celebrating over 300 years of viti- and viniculture, this is quite the year for Boschendal. They have garnered a multitude of awards in 2018 so far, including an estimated 31 awards in May alone! As well as its IWC wins, Boschendal took home three golds, five silvers and 12 bronze awards at the 2018 Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), plus silver at the 2018 Syrah Du Monde awards.

The IWC, Decanter Awards and Syrah Du Monde all hold great significance in the wine-making world, and are used to benchmark wines around the planet. Winemaker Lizelle Gerber has shared what an honour it’s been to be recognised by all three; a reflection of the team’s wine making abilities and hard work.

Gerber was particularly thrilled by the three gold wins at the Decanter Awards:

I love the 1685 S&M for its spice and purity of fruit, the Elgin Chardonnay for its golden green hue and elegant sophistication, and the Black Angus for its exceptional depth and complexity. I was very pleased with their victory at the Decanter, which is known for the calibre of its panel and rigour of its judging process.”

Having moved from strength to strength, the Boschendal team’s passion and skill for wine making has made itself evident through their recent success. Luckily, they are situated right on our doorstep, relish their award-winning wines this winter at home or at their estate. Boschendal welcomes all visitors to explore the farm and enjoy farm-to-table dining options that run on the philosophy of working sustainably with nature to produce real food.

If wine lovers would like to know what wine to go for during the colder months, Gerber suggests the 1685 – especially when paired with dishes like a hearty, slow cooked beef or lamb stew or a Madagascan-peppercorn-crusted tuna steak.
