Cape Town’s new ON19 Restaurant spices up the hotel dining experience

ON19, Cape Town’s newest chic restaurant perched on the 19th floor in the Westin Hotel precinct, today opened its doors following a R1.1 million revamp that saw the restaurant adopt its new name and a completely new persona.

Formerly known as the Executive Club Restaurant, the new ON19 restaurant is located on Cape Towns renowned Long Street, offering a one-of-a-kind view of the city’s wondrous skyline and Table Mountain.

Said General Manager Rob Kucera at the opening event, “While hotel restaurants are typically stiff, formal and clinical, we wanted to break this mould to create a trendy, upmarket and vibey ambiance that captures the interest of the upwardly mobile, eccentric Capetonian clientele. We aimed very high with our demands for the renovations, and the new ON19 has surpassed all expectations. After all our customers might be discerning connoisseurs seeking an exclusive dining experience, but they are not limited to customers staying at the hotel.”

Prepared in the kitchen of Chef de Cuisine Juan van Zyl, ON19 offers modern comfort dining, focusing on simplicity, bold flavours and healthy lifestyle trends.

The philosophy of our dishes is to keep it uncomplicated and local. From our aromatic ramen, lamb and goats cheese fritters to octopus and chorizo gnocchi or pulled springbok bobotie, the menu offering is geared at the wellbeing of our guests incorporating our signature SuperFoods program, and the use of fresh herbs from our roof garden and natural seasonings – van Zyl.

To accompany their meal, guests at ON19 have a superlative selection of local wines to choose from, “all served by the glass” to further the feeling of comfort that you could have any wine by the glass as you would at home.
