Spier Wine Estate’s stance on ethical, sustainable farming is evident in the superb quality of their wines and the food they serve in their restaurant. From chardonnay and pinot noir, to sauvignon blanc and pinotage, South Africa’s signature wine, you will find something for every season.
Which is why Spier Wine Estate is offering a spring wine tasting to celebrate the warmer weather. You can put your shiraz and merlot away for now because it’s time for fresh and new flavours. Come to their tasting room to experience four wines and an array of canapés made with fresh, seasonal ingredients.
The cost is R120 per person and is available from 1 September to 30 November 2019. Here’s what you can expect:
Spier Méthode Cap Classique – paired with marinated cucumber ribbon stuffed with cream cheese and spring herbs and topped with sourdough crumbs and green oil compliments the wine’s apple and brioche notes.
Spier Signature Chardonnay/Pinot Noir – paired with skewers of basil and mint-compressed melon, prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella cheese balls enhances the crisp fruitiness of the wine.
Spier Signature Pinotage – paired with roast purple baby beet, pickled blackberry, goats cheese and black pepper is perfect for this berry-rich, supple wine.
Spier 21 Gables Sauvignon Blanc’s gooseberry and asparagus notes goes superbly with mature Gruberg cheese, custard and candied walnut.
