The Marine and Beaumont Wines present a Gourmet Food & Wine Evening in Hermanus

The Marine Hotel in Hermanus is joining forces with Beaumont Wines to present a gastronomic pairing dinner on Saturday 30 July 2022.

Aimed at delighting the senses, the five-course dinner will be hosted by The Marine’s newly appointed Head Chef, Oelof Verster and winemaker, Sebastian Beaumont.

This perfectly paired 5-course menu will be served in the elegance of The Pavilion restaurant, providing diners the opportunity to interact with the winemaker and the executive kitchen team.

Family owned and managed in the heart of Bot River, Beaumont’s wine making approach is instinctive with minimal intervention. Here ancient, low-yielding Chenin Blanc and Pinotage vines are honoured in the process.

What’s on the Menu?

The magical evening begins with a welcome drink of characterful Beaumont Chenin Blanc 2022 and dainty canapés of Tozazu glazed Franschhoek trout lollipops with herbed cream cheese, kewpie mayo, toasted sesame seeds and candied lemon zest; and Parma ham tartlets with caramelised onion pureé, Egyptian dukkha and foraged herbs. After a bread course of Marine milk & butter loaf with 40-day fermented black garlic butter, deliciously fragrant coconut milk steamed west coast mussels with lemongrass, palm sugar, chilli, ginger and coriander are paired with Beaumont New Baby 2019. Pepper crusted line fish with curry & corn velouté, charred cauliflower florets and pickled baby onions is artfully complemented with Beaumont Hope Marguerite 2021. The main course of confit pork belly with roasted baby beets, crispy kale, sauce gribiche and aromatic jus pairs with Beaumont Far Side Mourvèdre 2019. Ending on a sweet note, clafoutis with Wesley’s honey ice-cream and noble late harvest poached apricots will be served, satisfyingly paired with Beaumont Goutte D’or 2021.
