Summer in Cape Town has a taste — and this year, that taste is bold, bright, creative, and deliciously hands-on at Makers Landing.
As the days get longer and the city leans fully into holiday mode, the V&A Waterfront’s home of foodie magic is rolling out its Makers Summer Sessions, a three-month celebration of cooking, creativity, and proper feel-good flavour.
Think of it as the ultimate Saturday “playground for grown-ups,” except instead of slides and jungle gyms, you’ll find pasta rollers, spice-laden frying pans, wooden spoons, and some of South Africa’s most talented chefs guiding you through unforgettable culinary experiences.
- From December 2025 to March 2026, Makers Landing is hosting a rotating lineup of workshops featuring chefs, home cooks, and food creators who are shaping South Africa’s next big flavours. Whether you’re a recipe rebel, a future foodie, or simply someone who’s tired of making the same Tuesday-night pasta, there’s a workshop with your name on it.

This season is stacked with personality-filled foodie events — the kind that leave you with new skills, new flavours, and possibly a new addiction (homemade chilli crisp, anyone?).

6 December – Bianca Strydom: Pasta from Scratch & Chilli Crisp Magic
Makers Summer Sessions kicks off with chef Bianca, who will teach guests how to make beautiful handkerchief-style pasta from scratch. You’ll also whip up your own jar of chilli crisp to take home — a fiery trophy of your kitchen victory.
13 December – Khanya Mzongwana: A Little Sister Studio Experience
Expect heart, heritage, and Khanya’s signature creativity as she hosts an immersive pop-up session.
20 December – Kos Gangsta: The Demo Kitchen Takeover
Street-style swagger meets kitchen finesse as Kos Gangsta brings bold flavour and serious fun.
10 January – Eat to Thrive
Start your year with seriously nourishing bites and fresh energy.
17 January – Hush in My Kitchen
A homestyle experience filled with comfort, earnest cooking, and personality.
14 February – Shawn the Roasted Dad
Your Valentine’s Day plans? Sorted. Expect smoky, saucy, dad-level expertise.
28 February – Sifo the Cooking Husband
One of SA’s favourite home cooks steps into the Demo Kitchen for a flavour-packed session.
14 March – An Indian Experience with Kapoochka
Spices, textures, aroma, joy — this one’s going to be unforgettable.
28 March – Seven Colours with Chef Nolu
End the season with a heritage-inspired celebration of colour, flavour, and classic South African comfort.
