More than 70 Taiwanese dishes arrive at Makers Landing for the Return of the Taiwan Food Festival

Cape Town food lovers may want to arrive hungry when the Taiwan Food Festival returns to Makers Landing at the V&A Waterfront on Sunday, 21 June 2026.

Back for another year and bigger than ever, the festival promises a full day of authentic Taiwanese food, culture, and community, with more vendors, more experiences, and more opportunities to discover one of Asia’s most exciting food cultures.

A major highlight of this year’s event is the arrival of two international chefs flying in directly from Taiwan.

  • Guests will have the opportunity to watch exclusive live cooking demonstrations showcasing authentic Taiwanese flavours, with limited samples available for tasting. The food offering alone is reason enough to attend. More than 70 unique Taiwanese dishes will be available, ranging from beloved street-food favourites to traditional family recipes. Visitors can tuck into salt and pepper chicken from Mama’s Kitchen, Dan Dan noodles from Hao2Now, authentic zongzi from Lin Family Eats, Taiwanese beef noodle soup from Midnight Snacks, pineapple cakes from HS Bakery, chiffon rolls from Café Chiffon, and bubble tea from Teawesome SA.

Home Bao will also be serving its popular potsticker platters alongside a new addition making its festival debut: prawn spring rolls. Beyond the food, guests can experience Chinese knot tying, traditional tea ceremonies and tea tastings, as well as cultural activities and performances throughout the day.

With Father’s Day falling on the same date, the festival offers a fun alternative to the traditional family lunch. Whether visiting for the food, the culture, or simply an excuse to spend the day eating something new, the Taiwan Food Festival promises a vibrant celebration of Taiwanese hospitality.
