If Cape Town ever needed an excuse to raise a glass, Jack Black’s Taproom has delivered it — with foam, flavour, and a full-on feast.
Their Beer & Food Pairing extravaganza is here, and this time it’s shaping up to be the most delicious showdown yet.
On 4 December, the Taproom transforms into Beer School — but don’t worry, there are no tests, no textbooks, and definitely no boring lectures.
- Instead, guests get five epic courses, ten unique brews, and one extremely important job: deciding which beer pairs best with each dish. It’s like MasterChef meets Blind Tasting meets “Who Ate My Chips?” — but with better lighting and none of the stress.
🍽️ How It Works
Each dish arrives with two different beers, served side-by-side. Guests then taste, sample, sip, reconsider, re-sip (for research, of course), and finally cast their vote. You’ll discover how tiny changes in bitterness, sweetness, or style completely transform a meal — and you might even uncover your inner beer snob along the way.

A ticket gets you the full five-course feast, ten beers, expert hosting…and bragging rights if your favourite pairing wins the night.
Because beer pairing is way more fun than wine pairing.
Because the Taproom team knows how to throw a proper night out.
Because where else can you say, “I’m doing research,” while eating ribs with one hand and holding two beers in the other?
