Artisinal Beer Den Anker

Duvel

8.5 vol % alc

A pride of Belgium since before the WWI, this refreshing beer seems innocent, but its sleeping devil needs no publicity! Refermented in the bottle. Thirst quenching with a dry and yet light, sweet, alcohol taste and a pronounced hoppy character.

Bel Pils

5.3 vol % alc

A low fermentation pilsner. In the background you notice a sweet, fruity and hoppy touch. The beer has big body, rich mouth feel and a long sweet after taste and aroma from the use of the finest Saaz hops. An excellent thirst quencher in the middle of summer.

Kwak

8.4 vol % alc

Kwak is a dark beer, which was favoured by the coach-drivers during the 19th century. It is drunk from a traditional glass with a bowl-shaped bottom. These glasses are extremely expensive and difficult to replace, which is why we keep your left shoe until we get our glass back. This is a Belgian custom which we’ve brought to Cape Town. We’ll keep your shoe in the basket hanging from the rafters until you’re done. Don’t worry, we keep air freshner at hand. No shoe. No Kwak.

Hopus

8.3 vol % alc

Five hop varieties from the best regions have been chosen based on their taste and their harmonious fusion. The tasting experience of the Hopus starts as soon as the bottle is ‘uncorked’. A lovely white, creamy head appears above the golden hue. The brewer’s yeast adheres to the bottom of the bottle and is released in the form of tiny particles. It goes without saying that beer lovers will appreciate the yeast. The aromas of the hops and high fermentation can immediatly be detected.

Pour almost all of the beer into your glass and the last bit into the small liqueur glass. Taste this on its own or add this to your beer. You will see the beer change to a cloudy golden colour and the beer becomes more bitter.

Vedett Extra Blond

5.2 vol % alc

Blonde, lightly hopped premium beer. Pleasant lemon aroma, followed by a light, creamy taste of malt dominated by the powerful bitter edge of hops.

Vedett Extra White

4.7 vol % alc

A premium white beer. Natural ingredients barley, hops, coriander and orange peel are used in the brewing process. This unfiltered beer is best poured swirling the last of the yeast left at the bottom of the bottle. This contributes to the natural cloudiness of the beer.
