Set among vineyards in Durbanville, this beloved bistro is turning 14 February into a thoughtfully curated culinary experience designed to be savoured slowly — preferably with someone special across the table.
The evening begins on a celebratory note with a glass of Boschendal Brut Rosé, freshly poured to set the mood, alongside warm ciabatta with herb butter and playful pampoen churros. From there, guests are invited to choose their own culinary adventure through a beautifully balanced multi-course menu that showcases Wilde Vy’s signature style: modern, seasonal and proudly rooted in local flavour.
- Starters range from pepper-crusted beef carpaccio with BBQ beetroot and black garlic aioli to summer herb and goat’s cheese arancini, or Cape Malay–inspired cured fish with coconut, curry leaf and finger lime. Each dish is light, elegant and designed to tease the palate rather than steal the spotlight too soon.
- Mains turn up the romance with bold, comforting flavours — from a duo of pork with butternut purée and charcuterie sauce, to Karoo lamb rib roll with smoked ribbetjie and chakalaka, or a beautifully executed pan-seared linefish served bouillabaisse-style with mussels, prawns and seaweed tropical salsa. It’s the kind of menu that encourages sharing bites, stories and perhaps a second bottle of wine.
- Dessert is made for two, as it should be on Valentine’s Day. A shared “My Sweetie Pie” dessert featuring a toffee apple choux bun brings the evening to a sweet, nostalgic close — because romance is always better with dessert in the middle of the table.
