A Hands-On Harvest Celebration at Simonsig Family Vineyards

Harvest season is the heartbeat of the winelands, and in 2026 Simonsig Family Vineyards is opening its gates to invite guests right into the middle of it all with the Simonsig Harvest Experience.

Taking place on Saturday, 28 February 2026, this one-day, hands-on celebration offers an authentic look at what harvest really means, from the first light over the vineyards to the final shared meal at the table.

The experience begins early, with guests welcomed into the vines at sunrise to pick grapes by hand, just as generations before them have done.

  • From there, the morning unfolds with immersive, tactile moments that define harvest time. Guests are encouraged to roll up their trousers and take part in traditional foot stomping, connecting directly with the fruit and the process that transforms grapes into wine. It’s playful, messy, and deeply memorable, the kind of experience that turns stories into souvenirs.

As the work winds down, the celebration continues with a relaxed long-table lunch, where guests can slow the pace, reflect on the morning, and enjoy good food and conversation in true harvest style. Set against the Stellenbosch landscape, the lunch brings together community, flavour, and the shared satisfaction of a morning well spent.

Running from 08:00 to approximately 13:00, the Simonsig Harvest Experience is priced at R1,250 per person and is ideal for wine lovers, curious travellers, and anyone looking to experience the winelands beyond the tasting room. With limited space available, early booking is essential for those who want to be part of this once-a-year celebration.
