The Jordan Summer Picnics (2025–2026) invite guests to slow down, stretch out, and savour the season from the comfort of private picnic pods set on a lush lawn beside the dam, with sweeping views of the Stellenbosch Kloof Valley and surrounding mountains.
Designed for relaxed indulgence, each picnic pod comfortably hosts 2 to 8 adults and remains exclusively yours from 12:30 to 16:00. Complete with plush cushions, cosy blankets, and an ice bucket, the setting feels thoughtfully luxurious yet effortlessly laid-back—perfect for couples, families, or groups of friends.
- At the heart of the experience is a generously curated picnic basket for two, prepared by The Cellar Door at Jordan and priced at R734 per couple sharing. The basket opens to reveal a feast of freshly baked breads—gratinated brioche, herbed focaccia, and Cape seed loaf—paired with locally sourced charcuterie and exceptional cheeses, including Dalewood Camembert and Brie, Klein River Stanford, and De Pekelaar Boerenkaas. Add Jordan Estate olives, house-made preserves, whipped savoury butter, aubergine relish, spiced apple chutney, and labneh with dukkah honey, and the tone is set for a memorable afternoon.
Warm savoury treats follow, from caramelised onion, butternut and thyme tarts with Greek feta to fresh Vietnamese rice paper rolls filled with free-range chicken and crisp vegetables, served with a fragrant sesame, sweet soy, ginger, and coriander dressing. A bright pickled vegetable salad brings balance, while the Chef’s patisserie of the day ensures the picnic ends on a sweet high.
Little ones are just as spoiled. Kiddies picnics, available at R235 per child, include a homemade pizza roll, crumbed chicken strips, a seasonal fruit skewer, fruit juice, and a classic s’more—plus a Jordan colouring kit to keep young guests happily entertained. Parents are kindly reminded that children should remain supervised at all times.
