What is happening at Bombay Brasserie for Restaurant Week?

Cape Town is getting a particularly aromatic Restaurant Week invitation, with Bombay Brasserie at Taj Cape Town presenting a Signature Indian Experience for R595 per person.

From 25 September to 1 November 2026, more than 200 of South Africa’s most exciting restaurants will serve exclusive Restaurant Week menus.

The experience offers a choice between a completely vegetarian or non-vegetarian journey, making the menu particularly suited to diners who want to explore a broad range of Indian flavours in one sitting.

The vegetarian experience begins with Dahi Bhalla, lentil dumplings in sweetened yoghurt with mint and tamarind chutney. Starters then include Goan Cafreal Masala Marinated Broccoli, fiery roasted broccoli morsels with herb marinade; Hara Bhara Kebab, pan-seared green pea and potato patties infused with roasted spices; and Tandoori Stuffed Shahi Mushroom, stuffed button mushrooms with dried fruit roasted in clay oven spices.

A Mango & Kala Chaat Sorbet provides a refreshing pause before the vegetarian mains. These include Vegetable Saagwala, vegetables cooked with tempered spinach gravy, and Paneer Khatta Pyaaz, paneer simmered with pickled onions in onion tomato gravy. An assorted Indian bread basket and Jeera Mutter Pulao complete the main course.

The vegetarian journey finishes with Rasgulla Tiramisu, combining coffee and syrup-soaked cottage cheese dumplings with whipped mascarpone cream and dark cocoa.

The non-vegetarian experience also begins with Dahi Bhalla, before moving into a trio of starters. Goan Cafreal Chicken Tikka features cilantro and serrano chilli-marinated fiery roasted chicken morsels, while Mutton Shami Kebab offers pan-fried, velvety spiced minced lamb. Tandoori Ajwaini Prawn is yoghurt-marinated with carom seeds and Indian spices before being charred in the clay oven.

After the Mango & Kala Chaat Sorbet, the main course features Mutton Saagwala, tender lamb cooked with tempered spinach gravy, alongside Murgh Khatta Pyaaz, chicken simmered with pickled onions in onion tomato gravy. Dal Makhani, black lentils simmered overnight in authentic spices, is served with an assorted Indian bread basket and Jeera Mutter Pulao.

Dessert is again Rasgulla Tiramisu, bringing the two journeys together with its combination of coffee, syrup-soaked cottage cheese dumplings, whipped mascarpone cream and dark cocoa.

Bombay Brasserie at Taj Cape Town is known for a fine dining interpretation of Indian cuisine, with the culinary team also weaving Indian and Cape Malay influences into its dishes. North Indian cuisine takes centre stage, while the wider menu draws from other Indian regional traditions. The restaurant’s setting adds to the occasion, with dramatic mural art, dimmed lighting and a live open kitchen creating a sophisticated backdrop for the Restaurant Week experience.
