Shimmy Beach Club launches New Summer Menu

Shimmy Beach Club’s new menu is summer-ready!

Healthy and nutritious dishes, intertwined with comfort food favourites sets this season’s menu apart, with delicious vegan items, moreish meat options and the freshest seafood, all available to enjoy right by the ocean, with their unbeatable panoramic sea views.

A firm focus on seasonal produce, freshness and flavour are the forefront of Shimmy’s culinary offering, yet with a variety of menu items that cater to a wide range of dietary requirements without compromising on taste – from vegan to banting and everything in between.

Healthy and delicious are no longer mutually exclusive terms, we are finally getting to a place where vegans and meat eaters can both enjoy the same restaurants, where a boring salad isn’t the only option, and the new summer menu is a testament to that. – Executive Chef Adrian Cook.

Expect a selection of colourful, nutrient dense foods that are loaded with flavour, with some playful twists on classic dishes. The Vegan ‘Fish and Chips’ made from kelp-infused tofu, lemon gremolata, salt and vinegar cigars and nori ‘scales’ is a pure taste of the sea, while the Mint Zucchini ‘Spaghetti’ with lemon almond cream, toasted almond flakes and a chilli and basil infused oil is both low-carb friendly and vegan, yet tastes creamy, decadent and delicious.

If you tend to favour more meat on your plate, the summer menu is sure to satisfy, with with gourmet dishes such as the Lemon and Herb Grilled Lamb Rump with crushed roasted potatoes, red onion and thyme marmalade or the Chicken 3 Ways that is easy on both the eyes and the palette. Crowd-pleasing comfort food favourites also feature heavily, with both the Smokey Baby Back Ribs and the Peri-Peri Chicken set to be surefire winners.

The burgers deserve a mention of their own, with five different varieties on offer. Vegans can tuck into the the Plant Based Burger, served with vegan wasabi aioli and sweet potato fries, while hot headed chilli fans will love the Chilli Bomb Burger. Filled with cheddar, chipotle and Thai chilli, topped with habanero mayonnaise, Cajun onion rings, a jalapeno popper and served with chilli fries, this burger brings the heat in 5 different ways –don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Fish lovers will be spoilt for choice, with Asian-inspired dishes such as the Matcha Poached Salmon and Miso Glazed Sea Bass, that both manage to provide a a depth of flavour without overpowering the delicacy of the fish. If you prefer something more classic when it comes to seafood, order the Beer Battered Fish and Chips, Local Black Mussels in a garlic and white wine sauce or the Pan of Prawns. Or spoil yourself and go for the the signature Seafood Platter, for a complete taste of the sea.

The dessert menu brings with it a hint of nostalgia, with the classic South African favourite Peppermint Crisp Tart, deconstructed and made more delicious than your aunty’s original. Otherwise choose from Berry Panna Cotta, a lemon cheesecake ice cream filled Baked Alaska, or a Raw Vegan Brownie with coconut ice cream, that is as chocolatey and decadent as a brownie should be

For poolside dining at it’s best, the newly relaunched Beach Menu has been created with a laid back Capetonian style of eating in mind. Choose from one of the dishes on offer or “build your own platter” with a selection of your favourite finger foods that will keep you happy and nourished during a long day of poolside tanning, drinking and soaking up the summer sun.

And don’t forget the cocktails! Whether you like yours shaken stirred, blitzed or blended, Shimmy Beach Club’s new summer cocktail menu has something to quench your thirst. Try the Martini Negra, Italian Mojito and Tumeric Mai Tai, with brand new out-the-box innovations such as the Basil Smash, made from gin, fresh basil and elderflower, and the ‘Summer with Wings’, featuring coconut berry Red Bull shaken with tequila, vodka, gin rum and Cassis – a guaranteed party starter!

The famously fresh sushi, delicate dim sum and wood-fired pizzas remain a firm favourite throughout the season, with the option of carb-free cauliflower sushi rice or a cauliflower pizza base for those living the banting lifestyle.

A Kiddie’s Menu is also available for the little ones to enjoy between splashing around in the pool, jumping on the Shimmy jumping castle or playing in the designated kids jungle gym and play area.
