Enjoy Valentine’s Day at EB Social Kitchen & Bar

Immerse yourself in a passion-filled taste sensation this Valentine’s Day!

If you are looking for something mouthwateringly romantic this Valentine’s Day, then look no further. The new head chef of Social Kitchen & Bar, Yohann Saumande, has put together a limited edition, delectable, seven-course Valentine’s Day menu, inspired by some of the most romantic novels of all time.

If you want to stare starry-eyed across the table while sharing these fabulously indulgent dishes, do not delay. The menu is R560 per person, and bookings are essential.

Here is what you have to look forward to…

The Age of Innocence

Capturing the innocence of Yohann’s first oyster experience, this appetizer consists of a Namibian oyster in a sphere of gazpacho consommé, lemon pearl and sea weed chips. It is clean and fresh and stares innocently up at you begging you to eat it.

The Devil In Winter

Served cold, this seemingly virtuous terrine of rabbit, quail & foie gras is accompanied by a devilish, green apple chutney that brings through the heat and acidity the dish needs. It is finished off with a micro herb salad and a truffle oil dressing making it ever so tempting.

Pride & Prejudice

Made with a pound of pride and a pinch of prejudice, one has to agree that this is a beautiful plate of food. Consisting of finely sliced duck breast carpaccio, the dish is made complete with a sprinkling of young vegetables, micro greens and a walnut dressing.

Gone with the Wind

Quite frankly my dear, you should totally give a damn about this dish. A combination of sealed scallops, chestnut puree and brussel sprouts, Yohann decided complete the dish with an iodine espuma, a foam-based sauce, inspired by the concept of the wind over the ocean.

North and South

With a duo of fish – Scottish Salmon from the North and Sea Bass from the South – this delicious main course will not disappoint. The fish is served with a leek compote, compressed saffron risotto, sweet peas and blue mussel sauce.

Room with a view

A play on the traditional cheese board, the chic design of this dish has evolved the classic into a sophisticated sixth course. The gorgonzola mousse is wrapped in a Kaddafi window and served with a dry fruit compote and honey dressing.

The Scarlet Letter

The use of colour is cleverly brought through in this decadent dessert consisting of pistachio nougat parfait, raspberry sorbet, chocolate sauce and almond dentelle. You will not be able to help yourself from having a love affair with your spoon.

Social Kitchen & Bar is Johannesburg’s best restaurant to share conversations and hand-crafted food and can be found in the heart of Hyde Park Corner – level six, inside the Exclusive Books store.
