Fuego

Opening its doors in January 2017, Fuego is situated in Sea Point. This one of a kind Taqueria (taco joint) and cocktail bar serves a selection of Latin dishes, along with delectable cocktails. Owned by Dominican New Yorker turned Capetonian, Fuego brings the flavours of Latin American cuisine to the Mother City.

Fuego offers home-style cooking set against an upmarket, modern, clean design. This trend has become popular in New York, resulting in a dining experience that is up-scale while still being laid-back and familiar.

As for its name, Fuego means fire in Spanish. This name was chosen as it is a descriptor for something cool, as in, “that’s hot,” but it also hints at the rich, often spicy flavours used in Latin American cuisine.

The restaurant offers authentic Latin cuisine that fuses traditional family recipes with contemporary twists. Unique flavours are added to create unusual dishes that combine traditional staples with exotic flavours. The result is a truly unforgettable menu that is inspiring and imaginative. Tacos – a Latin American cuisine staple enjoyed all over the world – play an important role in Fuego’s menu offering.

Menu highlights include the popular taco bowls, which feature seasoned rice or quinoa with corn, beans, mixed greens, tomatoes, and chipotle sauce, and a choice of meat, fish or veggies; a wide variety of tacos, including the popular drunken chicken taco along with vegetable, fish, steak, pulled pork and regular chicken tacos; starters; salads; sides and desserts such as churros served with chocolate or caramel.

The new tapas menu will be available during happy hour 16h00-18h30 every day. Happy hour will offer half price on classic cocktails and occasional different specials the day of.

Fuego is open from 11h00 until 22h00.
