If you’ve ever dreamed of sipping wine in a secret cellar while swapping stories with one of South Africa’s top winemakers — this is your moment.
Cavalli Estate is hosting a rare, one-night-only underground wine and dine experience, and the only thing more exclusive than the setting is the seat you’ll be sitting in.
On Friday, July 4th, just 22 guests will venture beneath the surface into Cavalli’s iconic tasting lounge, where candles glow, wine flows, and conversation feels like it’s been decanted slowly over years.
What’s on the Menu? Wine, Wisdom & Wow
This is not your typical wine pairing dinner. It’s an intimate gathering led by none other than Rianie Strydom, one of South Africa’s most respected winemakers. She’ll be guiding guests through a tasting of her finest vintages — poured into RIEDEL glassware, of course — while sharing the personal stories behind every bottle.
Pair that with a family-style feast by award-winning Chef Lucas Carstens, and you’ve got a table filled with soulful food, rich conversation, and the kind of atmosphere money usually can’t buy.
Here’s what you can expect:
-
🍷 A guided tasting led by Rianie herself
-
📖 Storytelling that brings each wine to life
-
🍽️ A long-table dinner underground — a first for Cavalli
-
👨🍳 A seasonal, shared menu crafted by Chef Lucas Carstens
It’s warm, unpretentious, and deliciously real. Think of it as the food-and-wine world’s version of a fireside chat — if the fire was a vintage cabernet and the chat came with a side of rosemary potatoes.
Reserve Your Spot (Before Someone Else Does)
This is a once-off experience, with only 22 seats available. At R1450 per person, it’s more than a dinner — it’s a night of connection, craft, and culinary storytelling you’ll be talking about long after dessert.
