This winter, The Marine Hotel is reimagining its food and wine pairing series with a trio of Saturday afternoon events that celebrate the best of South African wine.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the ocean and cliff path, the elegant Pavilion Restaurant offers a warm, inviting space for guests to savour exquisite cuisine and exceptional wines in good company.

  • The series opens on Saturday, 21 June 2025 at 12:00, featuring Iona Wines from the Elgin Valley. Priced at R495 per person, the experience includes a four-course lunch perfectly paired with four of Iona’s standout wines, beginning with a welcome glass of Iona Elgin Highlands Sauvignon Blanc 2024.

The starters come in two courses of Small Plates – Toasted Brioche and Chicken Liver Parfait served with Iona Elgin Highlands Chardonnay 2021, and Smoked Springbok Carpaccio paired with Iona Mr P Knows Pinot Noir 2023. Succulent Grilled Beef Fillet as main course will be expertly matched with the Iona Solace Syrah 2021, followed by a delightful trio of desserts: Mini Brûléed Lemon Tart, Passion Fruit Bomboloni, and Chocolate Caramel Mini Rolls.

The event will be hosted by Iona Winemaker Werner Muller in collaboration with Head Chef Oelof Vorster, promising an afternoon of fine food, superb wines, and engaging conversation.
