Paris Cape Town: The Original French Taste is in Cape Town!

Cape Town has been missing out on the original baked French bread, pastries and croissants.

This is now a thing of the past with the official June 2021 launch of the Paris Cape Town bakery in Sea Point. This is a first-of-its-kind bakery with the head baker and pastry chef being French.

Owner, Laurent Bezaudun, who is deeply passionate about his French origin and living his dream is bringing the original taste to town and has chosen the perfect location where people can sit, relax and enjoy both the food and the view. This dream has taken 20 years to fulfill highlights the passionate and enthusiastic Laurent. “Managing my own business has always been my dream and two years ago, I decided to start a new life, far away from what I was used to – France, Paris, and Advertising. I like gastronomy but I had never worked or studied gastronomy. My only asset was to be French and since I am from the country of gastronomy, I decided to open a French Bakery, supported by a French baker chef, as well as a French pastry chef”.

Customers will get to experience the real French taste with everything at Paris Cape Town being handmade and using French techniques. “A French bakery at the minimum has to bake the bread like it’s been done for ages in France, using a deck oven and not a rotary one”, highlighted the French Man.

“Having two French chefs guarantees a perfect quality and a pure “French way” production in Cape Town”, says Laurent. The two chefs do not only have that French touch but the best gastronomy experiences. Paris Cape Town’s pastry chef, Fabien Huchet is 25 years old and has worked in a pastry lab for already almost 10 years. He got his pastry’s degree in 2014 and has since been working at several of the most exclusive 5-star Hotels in Paris like the Royal Monceau, the Meurice, and the Shangrila. Fabien is also the one who opened the famous Chef Conticini’s pastry shop in London in 2018. Head baker, Thierry Gondran has been in the industry for 30 years now and has worked in France and Norway and for the last 10 years in South Africa. He is an old-school baker full of French baking techniques, which produces quality and unique pastries and croissants. The bakery also has a team of waiters, two baristas, and two kitchen staff.

At Paris Cape Town, you can either treat yourself to pastries and fine pastries.

  • They also offer a wide range of bread from the traditional baguette to the sourdough loaf and ciabatta.
  • Paris Cape Town partnered with Mischu Coffee for some of the best espressos, cappuccinos, and mochas. in town.
  • For lunch, they offer lots of snacking as the real “Croque monsieur”, quiche Lorraine and, obviously, some fresh handmade crusty sandwiches.

Besides being the founder of Paris Cape Town, Laurent has an Accounting Degree and he also worked as a salesperson doing online advertising. With this combined experience, Paris Cape Town will surely be on the map for a long time.

“I created Paris Cape Town to give our customers a trip to France through their palette. Take a bite into one of our butter croissants or pain au chocolat, close your eyes and you are at a Parisian patio,” highlighted Laurent
