At Benguela Cove Wine Estate, lunch comes with a little more story than usual.
On Saturday, 30 May 2026, the estate hosts an olive oil and wine inspired experience that goes beyond the plate.
It’s a small, thoughtfully curated gathering led by viticulturalist Jaco Mouton, designed for those who enjoy knowing what’s in the glass and on the fork.
- The experience starts outdoors, with a walk through the estate’s olive groves. Guests get a closer look at cultivars like Coratina, Frantoio and Leccino, and how they’ve adapted to the cool coastal climate. It’s practical, hands-on, and refreshingly informal.
- From there, things move into tasting. The focus shifts to the estate’s extra virgin olive oil — identifying flavour, texture and that distinctive peppery finish — before settling into a three-course lunch where each dish highlights the oil and is paired with Benguela Cove wines.
It’s not positioned as a formal masterclass. More a guided, relaxed deep dive into flavour, with just enough insight to make it interesting without overcomplicating things. Seats are limited to 20 guests, so it keeps its intimate feel.
