Musgrave ‘Meet the Maker’ at The Cellars-Hohenort

Meet the maker behind one of the best-loved gins in the country.

The Cellars Hohenort is joining forces with Musgrave Gin to present a gastronomic ‘Meet The Maker’ pairing dinner set for Friday, the 8th April 2022. [full menu]

Aimed at delighting the senses and embracing the new, the five-course dinner will be hosted by Simone Musgrave, the founder of Musgrave Gin, together with The Conservatory Restaurant Executive Chef, Tronette Dippenaar.

With a nod to the glamour of yesteryear and inspired by the African botanical flavour profiles of the two featured gins and two brandies, the fine-dining pairing will begin with a pre-dinner canapé of Asparagus and Pea Risotto Arancini, served with a gin cocktail named the Spektre.

The light first course includes a masterful pairing of Musgrave’s pink gin and a Sea Bass Ceviche, accompanied by a sweet potato purée, charred corn, red onion, coriander, and crispy banana.

The Musgrave Gina Colada is up next, featuring eleven botanicals inspired by ancient African spice routes as the ideal cooling addition to the mouth-watering Watermelon & King Prawn Curry, served on cardamom-infused sticky rice.

The epicurean adventure continues with a main course of Smoked, Honey-Glazed Duck Breast with wild mushrooms and liquorice jus, perfectly partnered with the Musgrave Black Honey brandy. Finally, the much-loved pink gin features again, served neat and on the rocks to introduce the inspired dessert of Passion Fruit Sago. Diners are invited to end the evening on another sweet note with the Musgrave Vanilla Brandy as the final act, enjoyed with Vanilla Bean Bon Bon.

Bookings are essential. Contact Restaurant Reservations on 021 794 2137 or email functions@cellars-hohenort.co.za (R595 per person).
