Every Friday in May, Harringtons Cocktail Lounge hosts an exquisite three-course whisky and food evening that promises to delight both the palate and the senses.

This weekly event, centered around the rich and versatile Jameson Irish whiskey, showcases a menu that masterfully pairs gourmet dishes with meticulously crafted cocktails.

The dinner evening is available every Friday for R450 pp which includes a three course dinner paired with three full cocktails to take you on an incredible experience. 

Starter: Goats Cheese Bon Bons

The evening begins with a tantalizing starter of Goats Cheese Bon Bons, delicately drizzled with hot honey, providing a sweet contrast to the tangy cheese. The nutty crunch and fresh arugula salad add layers of texture and flavor. Paired with the Apricot Affair cocktail, which features Jameson Select Reserve, honey, almond, apricot, orange bitters, and aromatic essence, the cocktail’s fruity and nutty notes harmonize beautifully with the cheese, while the honey and orange bitters enhance the dish’s sweetness and complexity.

Main Course: 

  • Flame Grilled Ribeye: This succulent ribeye is topped with rosemary butter and served with laminated truffle potatoes and charred baby vegetables. The ribeye’s robust flavors are matched perfectly with the Scarlet Ember cocktail. The Scarlet Ember, which uses he  Jameson IPA edition combined with pomegranate, apple, and rosemary, offers a refreshing and slightly tangy complement to the rich, savory steak.
  • Green Pea & Pecorino Pasta: For a lighter yet flavorful option, the penne pasta is enveloped in a green pea puree and adorned with crispy capers and shimeji mushrooms, all finished with a sprinkle of pecorino. The flavors of the pasta are beautifully offset by the Scarlet Ember’s apple & rosemary components, creating a well-rounded and satisfying pairing.
  • Crispy Pork Belly can also be ordered but we didn’t try: It is served with creamy mash, blackberry jus, and sautéed vegetables, the pork belly is a feast for the senses and also paired with the Scarlet Ember cocktail.

Dessert: Blueberry Crumble Cheesecake

The experience concludes with a decadent Blueberry Crumble Cheesecake, served with vanilla ice cream and a salty pretzel crunch.  This dessert is paired with The Jewel cocktail, a sophisticated blend of Jameson Stout (yoghurt washed), plum, cardamom, cherry, and Ceylon. The Jewel’s deep, fruity notes accentuate the creamy richness of the cheesecake and the tartness of the blueberries, while the salty pretzel crunch adds a delightful contrast to the sweetness of the cocktail.

Featured Cocktails

In addition to the pairings, the featured cocktails—Apricot Affair, Scarlet Ember, and The Jewel—are available for individual purchase, alongside the intriguing “The One with the Cookies” cocktail. This latter creation, with Jameson Black Barrel, vanilla liqueur, cookie dough, and green apple acid-adjusted cordial, promises a unique and playful experience for those seeking an adventurous twist.
