Hyde Park’s favourite restaurant for sharing conversations and hand-crafted food, Social Kitchen & Bar, is adding another meal to its extensive offering, breakfast. Served from 08h00 – 11h00 daily, internationally acclaimed Chef Russell Armstrong, and his team, have created a simple, fresh breakfast menu to get your day off to a ridiculously good start.

We’re constantly evolving our menu based on the ingredients available, but also based on the feedback we get from our customers. We have a lot of customers coming through the book store each morning – having enjoyed a cup of coffee from the EB Café, they want something more. We’re pleased to now be able to offer them a great breakfast. – explains Chef Russell Armstrong.

Items on the menu embody Armstrong’s philosophy toward food – simple dishes using the best available ingredients. Dishes include banana bread with creamed cheese, lemon and blueberries, eggs benedict with spinach and smoked salmon, and ricotta crumpets with white chocolate mascarpone, honey and nuts. For the more adventurous eater, shakshuka is a specialty.

The restaurant also has a wide variety of new hot and cold beverages to sip alongside your morning meal – from smoothies and Legardo coffees to hand-crafted Rennefeldt Tea. Alternatively, opt for a Bellini or mimosa from the breakfast cocktail menu – to really give your morning a kick-start.

Social Kitchen & Bar can be found in the heart of Hyde Park Corner – level six, inside the Exclusive Books store. It remains Johannesburg’s best restaurant to share conversations and hand-crafted food, but it completes the epicurean adventure with simple food, inspired cocktails and a view fit for a King.
