Heritage Day Events at One&Only

One&Only is hosting a range of locally-inspired events for Heritage Day, with a little something for everyone.

Heritage Day is a time to embrace South Africa’s diversity, cultures, families and traditions; what sets us apart and makes us unique. This Heritage Day, One&Only is celebrating everything that is positively South African; from places and products to people and flavours.

One&Only is offering local cooking courses; a menu inspired by Mandela’s life and a cosy and delicious lunch in Reuben’s!

Join them on 23 September for a Sunday buffet menu packed with all your South African favourites; think bobotie, lamb potjie, west coast mussels, and desserts including milktart, peppermint crisp tart and koeksisters!

Note: For younger diners, KidsOnly club is available – a safe and supervised indoor and outdoor play area with activities and games.

Cost: R395 per person (half price for children under 12yrs, and complimentary for children under 3yrs).

You can also choose to celebrate heritage day by honouring Nelson Mandela; the Mandela Centenary Menu is a tribute to his contribution to South Africa and the human-race at large. The Chefs have paired food with wines of apt significance.

The first toast will be with a glass of Graham Beck Brut – the MCC used to toast Nelson Mandela during his inauguration in 1994. (Interestingly, Barack Obama celebrated his Presidential win with Graham Beck Brut NV in 2008.) The three-course dinner will then be paired with: Marianne Floreal– served at Nelson Mandela’s 90th Birthday; Rust en Vrede Shiraz – selected by Mandela for his 1993 Nobel Peace Prize dinner in Oslo; and ended off with Graham Beck Demi Sec.

Cost: R950 per person for this paired 3 course menu.

Lastly, you can mark the day with some proudly South African cooking. Join One&Only’s pastry team for a hands-on experience as you learn the secrets to making both Koeksisters and Koe’sisters. Receive the Chef’s tried and tested personal recipes in a souvenir pack, as well as an apron for you to take home.
