Coffee with a Difference on Bree Street

Issi on Bree is one of Cape Town’s youngest coffee spots. But here you will find much more than ridiculously well prepared Isabella Blend. The Issi team have set out to create a unique space hidden from the bustle of the city where Capetonians and visitors to Cape Town can escape and have a coffee experience with a difference.

The three young owners decided to take a break from their corporate careers and bring together their different passions to create this happy space on Bree Street. They focus on good coffee, connectivity (free fibre WiFi), books and contributing progressively to the city they call home by hosting and promoting conversations that matter.

Issi Book Exchange

The Issi Book Exchange is a rare find for anyone that loves reading. How it works: If one of the books on their shelves interests you, take it home, give it a read and on your next visit replace it with another book that you have read and loved. Their collection includes fiction, non-fiction, South African, children’s books, cookbooks and more!

Sober & Sexy

Issi also regularly hosts events and meetups that promotes social causes. Currently  (The event was hosted a few months ago) photographer Fiona McCosh’s Sober & Sexy calendar works are on display. The calendar is inspired by the film Calendar Girls and features nudes of people in recovery. Fiona shows that “recovery is not only possible, but pleasurable – and even sexy sometimes!” The calendars are sold in store and all proceeds go to the Cape Town Drug Counselling Centre.
