Chefs Warehouse Tintswalo Atlantic takes double honours at the international World Culinary Awards 2026

Chefs Warehouse Tintswalo Atlantic in Cape Town has once again placed South African dining firmly on the international culinary map, taking home two prestigious titles at the 2026 World Culinary Awards, as Africa’s Best Hotel Restaurant 2026 and South Africa’s Best Hotel Restaurant 2026.

Established as the sister event to the World Travel Awards, the World Culinary Awards span the breadth of the international food and hospitality sector, with categories covering restaurants, hotel restaurants, culinary destinations and experiences and more.

Unlike awards determined solely by a judging panel, the World Culinary Awards use a global voting process involving both the culinary industry and the public. Winning at both continental and national level is therefore a powerful endorsement from a combination of culinary professionals, industry insiders and food-loving consumers around the world.

  • Set dramatically between the Atlantic Ocean and Chapman’s Peak, Chefs Warehouse at Tintswalo Atlantic has developed a culinary identity that is deeply connected to its extraordinary surroundings. Under the leadership of Head Chef Cameron Smith, the kitchen celebrates the natural abundance of the Cape, with sustainably caught local seafood, seasonal produce, heirloom vegetables and ingredients sourced from local growers and ethical suppliers.

The double victory is a significant achievement for the restaurant and its team. ‘This is an incredible honour for the entire team at Chefs Warehouse at Tintswalo Atlantic’, says restaurant manager Jami de Witt. ‘To be recognised as both Africa and South Africa’s Best Hotel Restaurant is a wonderful acknowledgement of the passion, creativity and commitment that goes into what we do every day, and we are very proud to represent Cape Town and South Africa on the international culinary stage.’

The two 2026 World Culinary Awards add to a strong record of recognition this year that also included Two Plates from the Gourmet Guide; One Star in the Eat Out Woolworths Restaurant Awards; One Star in the Luxe Restaurant Awards, as well as its first listing in the 50 Best Discovery, a global collection curated by the organisation behind The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. These accolades have firmly established the standing of Chefs Warehouse Tintswalo Atlantic within South Africa’s competitive restaurant landscape.

The restaurant forms part of Liam Tomlin’s Chefs Warehouse collection and has become a destination in its own right, with a signature global tapas menu presented in a succession of small plates designed for sharing. There is a strong sense of place to the dining experience. Sitting alongside the award-winning Tintswalo Atlantic boutique hotel on the rugged Atlantic coastline below Chapman’s Peak, it provides a dramatic backdrop to an unforgettable dining experience that is as much about the setting as it is about the food – underlining the important role that food and hospitality play in the overall guest experience.
