Cheese & Charcuterie Platter & Wine Special at The Table Bay Hotel

The Table Bay Hotel celebrates 365 Years of South African Wine

Kicks off on World Wine Day: 18 February

  • Dates: 18 February to 28 March 2024
  • Time: 13h00 till late

As South Africa’s wine industry marks 365 years of wine production, the vintage heritage is being celebrated in due style at Cape Town’s best address, The Table Bay Hotel in the V&A Waterfront.

The milestone aligns with a February 2, 1659 diary entry by Dutch first commander of Cape Town, Jan van Riebeeck that states, “Today, praise be to God, wine was made for the first time from Cape grapes”.

Ardiel Norodien, Table Bay’s Food & Beverage Floor Manager has paired two wines from Boschendal, one of South Africa’s oldest wine farms, with a locally-sourced cheese and charcuterie board.

The cheese and charcuterie platter costs R280, and includes two glasses of red or white Boschendal.

“The Boschendal Nicolas is a characterful shiraz-led blend, a signature variety for Boschendal, along with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot for classical structure, Malbec a beautiful deep colour and vibrant red fruit, Merlot to enhance the fruit profile and Cabernet Franc to add to the rich spiciness of the main component,” Norodien said.

For those who prefer a glass of white, the Boschendal 1685 Sauvignon Blanc, with an abundance of tropical fruit flavours with hints of lime, is sure to impress.
