Reg Macdonald and The Firm have been involved in the restaurant and bar scene for years. From hot Hollywood hubs in Los Angeles to colorful cult-clubs in Cape Town, he has done it all. His latest project, Boma on Bree, is the result of Reg embracing the fire in his belly with a bit of an upmarket side. Using his years of experience riding his vintage Harley Davidson across countless deserts throughout Africa and abroad, he has carefully curated a space where good friends, food, and stories can be shared and all the knowledge that he and his team have accumulated over the years can be brought together around a fire and a glass of wine.

The master of coals, kitchen and dessert delights is Chef Vusi Ndlovu. Known for his progressive cuisine that pushes diners to explore new boundaries, this dynamic chef from Johannesburg knows what Africa should taste like and does it well. From oysters and beef fat to calamari with grapes there are no limits to his creativity. They are excited for Vusi to challenge the norms at Boma on Bree and to “wow” diners with unique dishes laced in flavor and flame.

Vusi celebrates and elevates the tastes of Africa making use of indigenous ingredients, local markets, artisanal products and farm produce. Vusi’s philosophy is simple: “why buy it if we can make it… better”.

The dining experience at Boma on Bree is designed to recreate an ambience that brings warmth and wonder to both tastebuds and hearts.

They want every diner to feel included and at ease. The dining room is decorated in natural wood with accents from the 1970’s to give any dining experience a nostalgic desert vibe. Boma is daring guests to be joyful and giddy as they share flames and cheer all night long.

The magic in this one-of-a-kind menu is crafted within the aromas of ash, smoke and flame.

The menu is simple and classic with an added Boma-spark.

They believe in elevating even the humblest of ingredients. Imagine that extra bit of lacey goodness grilled onto every piece of meat. Or savoring the lasting kiss left by the flame of their custom-built wood burning grill. The culinary experience is focused on quality produce allowing space for adventure and fun. In the spirit of collaboration around the fire, we have taken hands with amazing and passionate local producers to stay true to the ethos of sustainable eating practices.

As the curated dining experience comes to an end every night, the kitchen doors close and the gateway to magical moments opens. The ambiance changes giving way to a diverse and wonderous music experience with genres ranging from country and western to lo-fi hip hop and anything in between.
