A Night of Culinary Alchemy: Luciano Monosilio x Rikku Ó’Donnchü at Yatai – A dinner paired with Cavalli Wines

What happens when Italian finesse meets Japanese-Peruvian flair? Absolute magic—and maybe a little food-induced swooning.

On Saturday, 10 May, Yatai plays host to “An Evening of Culinary Vision,” a one-night-only dinner event where Michelin-starred maestros Luciano Monosilio and Rikku Ó’Donnchü join forces to blow minds (and palates).

This isn’t your average fusion dinner—it’s a high-voltage, six-course experience backed by precision, creativity, and a whole lot of flavour all paired with award-winning wines by Cavalli.

  • Expect dishes that flirt with tradition and wink at innovation: yellowtail crudo swimming in pickled tomato consommé, delicate capellini reimagined in mushroom broth “stracciatella style,” and a risotto that throws mussels, leeks, chickpeas, and provolone into an unexpected—but totally irresistible—mix. And that’s just the halfway mark.
  • There’s also a skewer featuring charcoal-grilled chicken and sea bass slathered in a sweet-sour black truffle sauce. If your tastebuds aren’t throwing a party yet, wait for the kabocha gnocchi with glazed pork cheek and curry, or the bourbon vanilla budino with kokuto caramel and bruléed naartjie.
  • Every dish is paired with Cavalli’s finest wines, ending with a final toast of Tenjaku Japanese whiskey. Not too shabby.

The evening kicks off at 19:00. Price per guest? R1999—a small price for front-row seats to culinary fireworks. But don’t dawdle. Seats are limited, and this dinner is definitely not coming back for an encore. Reservations are essential. Fancy pants optional. Appetite required.
