When it comes to ringing in the new year with style, Mint Restaurant & Wood-Fired Grill at Taj Cape Town knows how to throw a celebration worth dressing up for.
On 31 December, Mint invites guests to indulge in a New Year’s Eve Buffet Dinner that’s equal parts elegant, delicious, and joyously abundant.
From 18h30, guests are welcomed with a glass of Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel, setting the tone for an evening of indulgence accompanied by the warm sounds of a live band.
- At the table, the night begins with a healthy trail mix before moving on to a freshly baked bread selection served with dips and flavoured butters.
- The antipasti and salad bar is a work of art — think curried chicken and apple salad with walnuts, burrata with heirloom tomatoes, cumin roasted butternut with cranberries and feta, South African cured meats, cheeses, sushi, and vibrant fresh greens.
- Seafood fans will find plenty to love in the oyster and seafood selection: West Coast oysters with mango and chilli, yellowtail gravlax, chilled calamari rings, and shrimp cocktails with avocado and lemon herb dressing.
- The carvery offers a show-stopping lineup — herb-crusted beef sirloin, slow-roasted leg of lamb, whole baked fish, and all the trimmings, including baked potatoes, char-grilled corn, and baked butternut. Meanwhile, the Asian selection brings global flavours with lamb rogan josh, Thai seafood curry, butter chicken, paneer makhni, and soft, warm naan.
- And then — dessert heaven. From apple strudel and mini trifles to dark chocolate Christmas pudding, raspberry panna cotta, macarons, churros with chocolate sauce, and a firework display of petit fours, the sweet finish is nothing short of spectacular.
At R2 250 per person (half price for children 12 and under), this New Year’s Eve celebration is a culinary send-off to 2024 and a decadent welcome to 2025.
