Heritage Day is also National Braai Day. Head to the Spier Hotel for a braai buffet with perfectly grilled awesomeness, including Farmer Angus’s pasture-reared pork ribs and beef steaks, bacon and liver skilpadjies, mushroom risotto, cheese-stuffed butternut plus fresh seasonal salads, farm bread and decadent desserts to end it off perfectly. Vadas is offering a delicious, heritage-inspired culinary experience for one day only. To start with: biltong pâté and roosterkoek, smoked fish and chutney with vetkoek and chicken samoosas. For the main event: lamb and tomato bredie and beef shin curry along with sides like creamy pap and a three bean salad. Then, melktert and traditional fudge for dessert. Raise a glass to Spier’s winemaking heritage with a trip to its Tasting Room. Enjoy the elegant new Spring Tasting which matches four wines with an array of canapés.
