World-Class Cocktails & Burgers at Cafe Caprice

What is ‘World-Class’, you ask?

It’s an annual competition to find the world’s best bartender, the finest drinking experiences and best cocktail culture. It’s where upcoming bartending talent and the latest trends in mixology are discovered. This year, Cafe Caprice was invited to join the competition.

Following their success at the cocktail challenge, Caprice’s four best bartenders created four fancy cocktails to be paired with their famous burgers. We had the tough job of trying them…

Cocktails & Burgers at Cafe Caprice

To Life // 120

A traditional burger with a cocktail that is truly unique. The beef patty is topped with cheesy mozzarella and a creamy mushroom & black pepper sauce. The simple burger is delicious, but it comes to life with a cocktail of red wine, Ketel One Vodka and a toasted caramelised apple. The caramel-toffee sweetness and sharpness of the apple itself, lifted the rich, creamy burger sauce.

Gelato // 155

Fact: Burgers taste better with a milkshake. (Source: Marvin, 2016) Throw in some alcohol to that mix, and we’re really talking. 23 year old Ron Zacapa rum, vanilla ice cream, condensed milk, vanilla seeds and fresh orange gives you a cocktail that screams “I’m a grown up child and I do what I want!” It’s paired with Deluxe burger topped with streaky bacon, feta cheese, avocado & caramelized onions – a certain crowd pleaser.

Kings & Queens // 120

Streaky bacon, cheddar cheese and fresh chilli, topped with beer battered onion rings and paired with a sweet Vermouth, lemon, chai, salt & black pepper blend. It’s strong, it’s powerful, it’s unique – ready for Cape Town royalty.

Tea & G // 110

Alas! We didn’t try the final pairing – a burger topped with whole grain dijon mustard, cheddar cheese, fresh red onion & homemade pickles, paired with a Tanquery Ten Gin with rooibos, grapefruit, lime, strawberries, honey and cinnamon. Sounds great!

Cafe Caprice has an impressive selection of burgers and a cocktail list that runs for days. But pairing these delicious cocktails with equally delicious burgers is a fantastic idea. Prices might seem steep, but gourmet burgers can come in at around R80 – R110; and standard cocktails are close to R50 these days. So this is a great deal where you get the best of both worlds.

The world class cocktail & burger pairings (full menu) are available every Monday – Thursday.
