The Vineyard Hotel welcomes in the cooler days of autumn with their much-loved Monday wine tastings in April. With a selection of different wines on offer, April showcases wines from Paarl, Somerset West, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.
The tastings for the month begin on 6 April with the wines of Avondale in Paarl. Established on the slopes of the Klein Drakenstein Mountains, the estate lives by the ethos of ‘Terra Est Vita’ or ‘Soil is Life’. Their flagship Armilla Blanc de Blanc is fresh, versatile and full of the energy that comes from Avondale’s holistic way of making wine. The Armilla embodies the celebration of life on the farm.
The wines of Morgenster in Somerset West are showcased on 13 April. A mere 35 minutes from Cape Town, this wine and olive estate signals the gateway to the Western Cape wine-growing region. With a history dating back to 1711, this estate produces remarkable extra virgin olive oil, along with internationally acclaimed Bordeaux-style wines – which includes their flagship Morgenster Red Bordeaux blend and an Italian collection of Caruso, Nabucco and Tosca.
Wine tastings continue on 20 April with the wines of Dornier in Stellenbosch. Producers of a large selection of wines – ranging from Merlot to Chenin Blanc – this family vineyard is backed by a philosophy of uncompromising quality, ensuring that this will be a Monday not to be missed. Their range of wines includes the Dornier, Donatus and Cocoa Hill labels.
The tastings for the month conclude on 27 April with the wines of Allée Bleue in Franschhoek. The Dauphin family have strived to set the benchmark with Allée Bleue, offering world-class wines –which include the easy drinking Starlette Range, the premier White Label Allée Bleue range and 3 Platinum wines – and a unique visitor experience, which includes a bistro and picnic venue and fresh produce.
A representative from each of the respective estates will host the hour-long tastings from 18h00. Tastings take place on Mondays only and are free of charge.
