Wine and Dine Series hosted at Cape Grace

Wine-Glass-Hi-Res-199x300Focussing on what the Cape offers both locals and tourists, Signal Restaurant Manager Martin Drotsky, has placed a unique twist on the series:

“I wanted to choose estates with real heritage, unique placement and a passion to break the mould going forward. I truly believe that all the featured estates within this series contain these elements. I am extremely happy with the line-up and believe we will host some incredible events with them.”

And the journey begins in an area steeped in history and a farm dating back to 1693, HIGH CONSTANTIA. First called Wittebomen, owner/winemaker, David van Niekerk is restoring the farm to its former winemaking glory and now produces a range that includes sparkling, red, white and rosé wines – all of which still echo the gracious past of the former estate while combining the subtle flavours of the Constantia Valley

With dishes that have been designed to complement the nuances of the High Constantia wines, Signal’s Executive Chef, Malika van Reenen, is kicking off the series with a veritable feast!  Enjoy a tomato consommé, heirloom tomato, mozzarella and pea crostini on arrival, followed by “eggs benedict”, rooibos-smoked beef carpaccio, olive-powdered ostrich fillet and a braised lamb pot pie – all rounded off with a truly delectable dessert of steamed chocolate almond pudding and burnt butter ice cream.
