The Porcupine Ridge Pizzeria Challenge – Who makes South Africa’s favourite pizza?
If you love pizza and wine – and who doesn’t? – then Porcupine Ridge has something for you!
From May 1st, 2021 the pizza-and-wine-loving public will get a chance to vote for their favourite local pizza restaurant in the exciting new Porcupine Ridge Pizzeria Challenge. The ultimate purpose of this Challenge is to crown South Africa’s favourite Pizzeria.
The Porcupine Ridge Pizzeria Challenge offers consumers the chance to vote for their favourite pizza restaurant on the dedicated voting website (www.votepizza.wine) and by doing so stand a chance to WIN the weekly prize of Porcupine Ridge wines and an EarthFire Pizza Stone & Cutter.

Porcupine Ridge will announce one lucky voter as the grand prize winner at the end of the competition. The winner will walk away with an EarthFire Tabletop Pizza Oven, a pizza for a year voucher valued at R1500 from their favourite pizzeria and 30 bottles of Porcupine Ridge Wines, all valued at R8000.
The restaurant with the most votes will be crowned South Africa’s favourite pizzeria. The Ultimate bragging rights await, together with marketing collateral and wine to the value of R40000.
“The past few months have been difficult on the wine and restaurant trade, and we are hoping to create some excitement and opportunities for many sit-down restaurants in South Africa through the challenge,” says Dupre Nell, Marketing at Porcupine Ridge. “We are hoping to create a yearly challenge that generates a friendly competitive spirit amongst our trade customers… And it helps that Porcupine Ridge wines really are the perfect pairing to pizza!” he continues.
Porcupine Ridge wines, known to most people as the go-to midweek sipper, has become a firm favourite on tables the world over. With a choice of 7 different wines, there is a Porcupine Ridge wine that can be enjoyed with every kind of pizza and on any occasion. From the refreshing Sauvignon Blanc to the juicy Syrah, and no matter your pizza topping, Porcupine Ridge has a wine to match.
The nomination phase of the challenge in March and April encouraged the public to nominate their favourite Pizzeria on social media. The nominated restaurants were then contacted to participate and added to the voting list. The team from Porcupine Ridge will continue adding pizzerias to the voting website throughout the competition.

Every Friday from May 1st to September 30th, one lucky voter will be randomly drawn and announced on social media as the weekly winner.
