Local Bands given opportunity to compete for Rocking the Daisies 2013 Slot

Local Cape Town bands have the chance to play at one of South Africa’s premier music and lifestyle festivals – Rocking the Daisies – thanks  to the collaboration of Carling Black Label, Gourmet Boerie, Studio 7 and Rocking the Daisies. Starting from Friday, 23 August, bands will be given the opportunity to enter Gourmet Boerie’s acoustic sessions, which in return will act as the competition platform for the Campsite Gig Rig Slot at the 2013 Rocking the Daisies Festival.

Bands can enter via the Studio 7 portal, at www.studio7.org.za/championbandsearch, between Friday, 23 August and Tuesday, 03 September, 2013. Bands need to submit their name, contact details and a link to one of their tracks. Four finalists will be chosen to play at Gourmet Boerie, on Thursday evenings from 20:00 to 21:00 during the month of September.

Calendar of Events

  • Josh Roxton – Thursday 5th September 2013
  • Early Hours – Thursday 12th September 2013

As part of the criteria to become the Champion Band, artists are encouraged to get as much participation from fans and followers on Twitter using the hashtag #ChampionBandSearch. The band with the most number of unique tweets, during an allocated period of time, will be the ultimate Champion Band winner. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, 01 October 2013.

At each acoustic session, fans that attend will be allowed to enter spot give-away prizes and enjoy Gourmet Boerie’s Special, offering of any boerie roll accompanied with original Shoestring Chips and a 330ml Carling Black Label beer for only 55 bucks. At each session a lucky fan will be awarded a package deal comprised of one double ticket to the 2013 Rocking the Daisies Festival and a Memphis Tent ticket to the value of R7200. Alternate prizes that will be given at each acoustic session include Rocking the Daisies tickets valued at R600 each and Studio 7 tickets valued at R200 each. Fans who are seen drinking Carling Black Label at Rocking the Daisies will be entered into a raffle, and one lucky winner will be upgraded to the Memphis Tent.
