Riverside Lunch Celebration for Mothers Day at De Vette Mossel Parys with Unlimited Prawns

At De Vette Mossel Parys, Mother’s Day comes with a little extra flair this year.

Set for Sunday, 10 May at 12:30, the celebration centres around a special prawn buffet that leans into generous portions, relaxed dining, and a menu built to be enjoyed slowly.

The format is simple but effective.

  • Guests arrive, settle in, and let the meal unfold course by course. It starts with freshly baked pot bread, served with farm butter and sweet apricot jam, before moving into rich seafood favourites like mussel meat prepared with garlic and onions, and mussels steamed in white wine.
  • From there, the menu balances coastal classics with hearty comfort. West Coast snoek with sweet potato and a traditional meat potjie add depth, while the highlight remains the prawns, which take centre stage in place of the usual seafood pot. It is a focused, crowd-pleasing approach that keeps things satisfying without overcomplicating the spread.
  • Sides of rice, garden salad, and a warm vegetable dish round out the table, while the finish keeps things familiar and sweet with seasonal fruit, coffee, and koeksisters.

Each mom also receives a small surprise on arrival, adding a thoughtful touch to a day that is all about making her feel appreciated without turning the occasion into something overly formal.

Pricing is structured to accommodate families, with adults at R395, pensioners and high school guests at R295, primary school at R170, and younger children at R50, with those under three dining free. A cash bar is available, with card facilities on hand for convenience.

Bookings are essential, and with limited seating, the day tends to fill up quickly. For those looking to celebrate without the pressure of planning every detail, this is a Mother’s Day that keeps it easy: good food, a full table, and just enough surprise to make it memorable.
