Four gifts for every kind of Mom this Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day should be every day, right?

Even though we appreciate our mother figures all the time, Mother’s Day is just a way to show that extra gratitude for everything they’ve done for us.

Whether you plan on taking things easy, or if you’d like to treat her to a delicious meal, read on for four ideas to spoil your mom – no matter what she enjoys.

For the nature-loving mom

If your mother loves to spend time tending to her garden, consider getting her a few items that will help keep her flowers blooming. From brand new gardening gloves, to seedlings you know she will appreciate, there are endless choices here. You can even take it a step further and spend some time in the garden with her this Mother’s Day. The time spent gardening together is priceless, and she may probably show you a trick or two that you could incorporate in your own garden!

For the mom in need of a break

More often than not, our mothers are the backbones of our families. So, it’s no surprise that they are sometimes in need of a well-deserved break. With the culture of self-care growing more and more popular, why not build a self-care kit for your mom? A simple Google will show you some great ideas of what to include in this basket, but to start off, add in things like scented candles, some of her favourite treats, a bottle of wine, bath salts or bombs and a face mask. The most important part of this self-care kit, is making sure she has the time and space to enjoy it. Ensure her plate has been cleared, and give her the space to put her legs up and enjoy her day off.

For the foodie mom

Should your mom have a love for food, the best way to show you love her is through a meal.

If you aren’t too skilled in the kitchen, take her out for a meal that you know she will enjoy. Should you find yourself in Johannesburg, visit the Radisson RED Hotel in Rosebank for a day of great food and entertainment. A specially curated Mother’s Day buffet lunch, at R385 per person, will include dishes like sirloin of beef, lamb casserole, and desserts including lemon cream cake and baked New York cheesecake.

Reservations are essential, and can be made by contacting info.rosebank@radissonred.com.

For the outdoorsy mom

If hiking, cycling, or even surfing is one of your mother’s favourite pastimes, use this as a way to gift her this Mother’s Day. Getting your mom a gift that ties into one of her favourite hobbies will show that you care about the things she enjoys. Look into getting her some new hiking boots, or a brand new pair of sunnies to use while she goes on her weekly cycle. Your gift doesn’t have to end there. You could suggest spending some time with her doing her favourite things, or surprise her with a new outdoor activity she hasn’t tried before. There are wonderful activities that are guaranteed to provide an adrenaline rush, like river rafting with GZ Adventures, or paragliding with Cape Town Tandem Paragliding.
