Restaurant Week South Africa 2026 is giving Johannesburg diners a chance to experience the award-winning Tempo Luxury Restaurant in Sandton with a specially curated three-course menu for R445 per person.

Under the direction of Executive Chef Bonga Williams, Tempo brings contemporary African flavours together with refined technique and a vibrant luxury dining atmosphere. The restaurant was recently named Best Culinary Experience at the 2026 South African Restaurant Awards, adding another accolade to its growing reputation.

The meal begins with a choice of three starters. Smoked Chicken Hearts, Corn and Chakalaka Relish combines charcoal-smoked chicken hearts with sweetcorn purée, spicy chakalaka relish, crispy maize and coriander oil. Prawn, Coconut, Curry Leaf and Mango features butter-poached prawns, coconut curry sauce, green mango, curry leaf oil and crispy rice.

The vegetarian Cauliflower, Macadamia and Cape Malay Spice brings charred cauliflower, macadamia cream, Cape Malay spice, golden raisin chutney and crispy chickpeas together on one plate.

For mains, the standout Braised Beef Short Rib, Samp and Umami Gravy features a 12-hour braised beef short rib, creamy Parmesan samp, roasted garlic, crispy onions and concentrated beef gravy. The Chicken, Mzansi BBQ and Sweet Potato option pairs charcoal-grilled chicken supreme with sticky Mzansi BBQ glaze, sweet potato purée, charred corn and smoked chicken jus.

Vegetarians can opt for Butter Bean and Mushroom, Truffle and Parmesan, with crispy butter beans, roasted mushrooms, Parmesan cream, truffle oil, crispy leeks and herb salad.

Dessert brings a particularly South African-inspired finish. Amarula, Chocolate and Macadamia combines dark chocolate crémeux, Amarula caramel, macadamia praline, chocolate soil and vanilla ice cream. Malva Pudding, Passion Fruit and Vanilla offers a warm mini malva pudding with passion fruit curd, vanilla crème anglaise, salted caramel and vanilla ice cream.

The third option, Rooibos, Peach and White Chocolate, pairs rooibos-poached peach with white chocolate mousse, rooibos crumble, peach gel and vanilla ice cream.
