How Wilde Vy Bistro is pairing Brandy & Food for an unforgettable Winter Experience!

Winter is the perfect season to slow down, settle in by the fire and savour something exceptional.

Wilde Vy Bistro, set at Signal Gun Wines on Hooggelegen Farm, is embracing exactly that with the launch of a new South African Potstill Brandy & Happies Pairing.

Created in collaboration with the South African Brandy Foundation, the experience showcases some of the country’s finest potstill brandies alongside thoughtfully crafted bites designed to complement every sip.

  • Under the guidance of Chef Jürgen and his team, the tasting takes guests on a journey through South Africa’s rich brandy heritage while highlighting how carefully chosen flavours can elevate each pour.

The tasting includes three premium potstill brandies, with guests able to choose from three tasting options, priced from R400 per person.

The cellar selection features celebrated names including Boschendal XO, Durbanville Hills 10 Year Old Merlot Potstill, KWV 15 Year Old, Oude Molen VS Potstill, Sydney Back 15 Year Old Potstill, and Van Ryn’s 12 Year Old Potstill.

To complete the experience, guests can add an optional selection of Happies, specially paired with each brandy. Expect imaginative combinations such as Boschendal Potstill XO served alongside a Snoek Cruller with Pickled Cucumber and Dill, while the Durbanville Hills 10 Year Old Merlot Potstill Brandy is paired with indulgent Snail Bon Bons, offering a memorable twist for adventurous diners.

With roaring fires, refined comfort food and one of the Cape’s most distinctive tasting experiences, Wilde Vy Bistro is giving brandy lovers plenty of reasons to linger a little longer this winter. Whether discovering premium potstill brandies for the first time or revisiting old favourites, this is a tasting designed to be enjoyed slowly—one sip and one bite at a time.
