Gin Tastings at Hope Distillery in Cape Town

Small batch distillery, Hope Distillery, offers an up-close-and-personal taste in their immersive tasting room – it’s experimental, say husband and wife owners, Leigh Lisk and Lucy Beard.

Initially, our priority was to get the distillery up and running, but once it was well established we were able to turn our attention to the tasting room. We wanted to reflect the spirit of our products and bring a more distinctive yet modern look to the space.

The product’s new branding reflects a crisp and contemporary style and the couple’s entrepreneurial spirit.

“It’s important to us to support local, and so we sourced from some of our favourite South African designers and artists,” says Lucy. From new chairs and bar stools, lampshades and three bottle cork display units, to custom coffee tables, it’s an eclectic mix of retro and modern.

The tasting room experience allows guests to sneak a peek behind the scenes of how the products are made and enjoy a guided tasting through the Hope portfolio, as well as sample gin from other brands. Hope’s agave and vodka spirits are also on offer – garnish and tonic included. Leigh and Lucy are available to answer any questions guests might have and cheese and charcuterie platters are available to enjoy with your tasting.

The tasting room is open for tastings and sales on Saturdays from 12-5pm and for bottle sales from Monday to Friday.

Walk-ins are welcome, but bookings are recommended for larger groups.
