For a moment there it seemed as if winter would never end, so now summer is in full swing you’ll find that you won’t need to travel all the way to the wine-lands to mix some of the best wine and steak South Africa has on offer. Indulge yourself with a night at the iconic steakhouse and bar located in Cape Town’s Heritage Square. The interior is sophisticated and moody with exposed stonewalls and leather seating; it’s the perfect atmosphere for drinking wine – and on the night expect to feel as if you’ve stumbled upon an urban wine cellar.
Diemersdal has emerged from their quaint Durbanville valley to host an evening and lead a tasting through their range of wines, which notably includes a Sauvignon Blanc that will compliment the HQ salad and a Merlot to enhance the succulent HQ steak. The estate has run through six generations of the Louw family with all knowledge being passed from father to son. With 300 years of combined winemaking prowess, Diemersdal produces classic style wines mixing old-world quality with a new-world approach. The wine tasting will be partnered with a three-course meal for R250; expect HQ’s famous sirloin and thin-cut fries as the main feature.
