From 25 September to 1 November 2026, more than 200 of South Africa’s restaurants will be serving exclusive Restaurant Week menus.

Available for lunch and dinner, the Urban Umami menu combines local ingredients with oriental flavours, bringing together dishes that range from Tuna Tataki and Pulled Chicken Bao to Kingklip, Teriyaki Lamb Loin and Tamarind-Marinated Tofu.

  • The first course is a choice of one Small Plate. Tuna Tataki comes with avocado mousse, ponzu pearls and sesame tuile, while Pulled Chicken Bao is served with apple slaw and chilli caramel. The vegetarian option, Miso-Glazed King Oyster Mushrooms, combines edamame purée and toasted walnuts.
  • For the main course, Kingklip is served as a light coconut kingklip curry with a jasmine rice cake, pickled cucumber and curry leaf oil. Lamb Loin takes a more Japanese-inspired route with teriyaki lamb loin, pickled beetroot, saffron-grilled potato and sautéed baby carrots. Vegetarians can opt for Tamarind-Marinated Tofu, served with seared tamarind-marinated tofu, sesame glass noodles and pickled cucumber.
  • Dessert keeps the Asian influence going. Honey Parfait combines honey parfait with sake-infused curd, sesame brittle, citrus salsa and honeycomb. The alternative is Black Forest Cake, with layers of rich chocolate sponge cake, whipped cream and yuzu-pickled cherries, finished with chocolate shavings and cherry ice cream.
