A New Lunch Menu for the Cargo Hold at Ushaka Marine World

Lunch on the high seas at the Cargo Hold, one of Durban’s favourite and most unforgettable restaurants.

Chef Warren Frantz has served up a whole new lunch menu with influences from all corners of the world. You can enjoy everything from the exotic flavours of his seafood to one of the most delicious burgers in our sunny city – and, if you are a true carnivore like the sharks which peek into the Cargo Hold, there are juicy steaks from the grill.

Diners can expect an array of light entrees – choose from Beef Carpaccio, Timbale of Marinated Salmon and Teriyaki Prawns, Escargot a ’la Cargo, freshly shucked oysters and more.

For mains, Chef Warren has included a selection of three pastas – Gnocchi Primavera (soft potato dumplings, sautéed vegetables, rich creamy tomato sauce, parmesan cheese), Linguini Marinara (a seafood mixture of mussels, calamari, shrimps, cooked in olive oil, white wine and parsley) and Pollo Bianco (chicken, mushrooms, spring onion, garlic cream, linguine pasta).

The Cargo Hold prides itself on providing the freshest fish on the market – from the line fish of the day which is simply grilled with herbs and spices, lemon and olive oil to grilled kingklip which is served with three prawns and in a white wine, garlic and dill cream sauce on a bed of seasonal vegetables and baby potatoes. Then there’s the cream of the crop – Calamari Peri-Peri, Prawns National or one of the two platters for which the Cargo Hold is famous – the Captain’s Platter which combines the catch of the day with calamari and mussels and the Commander’s Platter which includes grilled kingklip, calamari and five queen prawns.

If you’re looking for something different, there’s chicken, steaks with a choice of four sauces and lamb cutlets. Hit the sweet spot with one of Chef Warren’s delectable desserts –Crème Brûleè (a Cargo classic), an iced infusion of sorbets, banana and caramel pancakes and toffee apple pudding.
