Delheim Wine Estate’s Top 5 Award-Winning Wines

Wine journalist, Tim Atkin has released his long-awaited 2020 South Africa Special Report about which wines have racked up the points, and awards, this year.

He has been writing these reports for over a decade and he notes that South Africa is blossoming when it comes to the improved quality of their wines, forming, in his words, ‘a constellation’ of winemaking stars.

Among these stars is Delheim Wine Estate, who earned stellar scores for 5 of their wines, scoring between 90 and 95 for each.

Delheim Vera Cruz Pinotage 2017 – 95 points

  • Deep red colour boasts of plums, red currants and black cherries in this rich wine with chocolate truffle and tobacco aromas. It’s velvety and of impeccable balance – true decadence.

Delheim Edelspatz Noble Late Harvest 2019 – 95 points

  • Light and classic, with orange blossom, grapefruit, honeybush and kumquat, this dessert wine holds its own with rich cheeses, the apricot, pineapple and lemon zest lingering spectacularly on the palate.

Delheim Grand Reserve 2017 – 93 points

  • Mint cassis, truffle and red berry fruit flavours make this wine youthful and fun, while also a great pair for red meat dishes.

Delheim Chardonnay Sur Lie 2019 – 91 points

  • Vibrant with Granny Smith apples, citrus and stone fruit nuances, this wine is subtle but well-structured, and has an elegant mineral finish.

Delheim Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 – 90 points

  • Bold with herbaceous undertones, this wine delights with aromas of rich cedar wood and cigar box, plum and cassis and beautiful oak integration. The ultimate winter wine.

These wines will no doubt be a welcome addition to any wine collection. To order any of these award-winning wines, visit www.delheimwines.com
