It is the brainchild of internationally renowned expert in production of icon wines, Greg Drescher, and one of South Africa’s finest producers – De Toren Private Cellar. Together they’ve committed to producing the finest wines in the world, identifying spots in France, Austria and South Africa through infrared satellite imaging to make these extremely special small quantity wines. What Neil Martin for ROBERT PARKER says about Book XVII

It has a super-ripe crème de-cassis, fruitcake and fig scented bouquet with a palate that is ostentatious.  This full-bodied turbo-charged wine is so damn silky smooth and seductive in a super-Tuscan kind of way, that its charms will be near impossible to resist.  I found this to be a big, powerful, quite alcoholic wine that is more reminiscent of some cult Napa Valley wines

Extreme wine making techniques employed

  • Each bunch of grapes was hand-manicured on the vine
  • Loads were dropped to 300g per vine, as opposed to the 3kg standard
  • Hand-harvested and destemmed by workers wearing surgical gloves
  • Fermented in New French Oak Barrels
  • Aged in new premium French oak for 18 months
  • No machinery or mechanical equipment used
  • Hand bottled with no filters

You would expect to pay over R2,000 per bottle for a wine that’s been hand-crafted in this way, of which there are such limited quantities available. However, you can buy your reserved bottle now* at only R1,800. Your wine is packed in a wooden box, opened with the included key when you’re ready.
